Word Clouds to represent conventions of our real media text:
Conventions analysed from different Genres:
Arctic Monkeys - Why'd You Only Call Me When You're High:
This cut-away is the opening scene to the music video which is very
conventional in the indie genre as not many indie videos use an
establishing shot.
Blink 182 - All the Small Things:
Convention of Music videos which is extremely prominent in Indie videos
is the use of 3 or more locations for example Blink 182 are susceptible
to having this convention.e
Carly Rae Jepson - Call Me Maybe:
In conventional pop music videos there is a concept with meaning not a
narrative, so Carly Rae Jepsen - Call Me Maybe is extremely conventional
in the way it features this meaning of the female going after the male
which is the concept of love.
One Direction - What Makes You Beautiful:
A convention which is a key ingredient to any successful music video is
the range of camerawork movements and angles, this is due to this
convention making the video aesthetic and interesting.
50 Cent - In Da Club:
A convention which is common in most music videos is the use of a studio
when performing, so in 50 Cent's case rapping, this also incorporates a
key convention to any successful music video which is lip syncing to
the camera.
Here I have inserted a clip from the media browser onto a track and to make the media text (music video) more interesting I have added an inverted after effect which inverts the colours on this clip of the music video. I think this was a great idea as it made the media text more conventional meaning its easier to distinguish what genre the music video is. As this is very conventional of house music especially during a dancing section trying to convey the artists of the genre are out of this world.
